This workshop builds on the research done during my thesis project A Study of Scarred Landscapes. Participants learn about how we measure air pollution levels using the Air Quality Index and how PM2.5 particles affect human health and the environment. During the workshop, we build working pollution sensing device prototypes to collect data using Arduino and PM2.5 sensors, field test our devices outside, and brainstorm ideas of how to use the device moving forward. We also discuss how artists have used environmental data and sensing techniques in their creative practices.
